Plot summary
Twice in 2002 the Kalachakra initiation is held for Tibetan Buddhists, once in India and once in Austria, with the Kalachakra sand mandala recurring throughout the film. The first gathering comes at Bodh Gaya, near the Mahabodhi Temple and the Bodhi tree, and is disrupted when the Dalai Lama falls ill. The pilgrimage around Mount Kailash follows, and then the second initiation, which takes place in Graz later that year without disruption. Among those who speak are the Dalai Lama and Takna Jigme Sangpo, a Tibetan who spent 37 years in a Chinese prison for supporting the International Tibet Independence Movement.
