Plot summary
Lum, an alien girl in Tomobiki, tells her classmate Shinobu about the belief that people destined for each other are joined by an invisible red thread, and says she and Ataru Moroboshi share one. Ataru denies it. A zeppelin drops fliers announcing the grand opening of Tomobiki Marchenland, a new theme park, and Lum, Ataru and their friends attend on opening day. At the magic show of Ruu, the Master Magician, Ataru volunteers to enter a box, and the magician and his assistant vanish. When Lum breaks the box open, Ataru has become a pink hippopotamus. Magic lingers around him, and that night a clown outside his window turns into Ruu and calls Lum by name. She demands that he change Ataru back, and chases him through the city into a hall of mirrors.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Urusei Yatsura 3: Remember My Love (1985)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Both the opening and the ending theme of the film were sung in English, and the opening was a hard rock number composed by Godiego's Takekawa Yukihide — a pioneering choice for a Japanese anime film at the time.
- Remember My Love, like the earlier Urusei Yatsura films, was an original story rather than an adaptation, and it was built on a concept that reversed Urusei Yatsura: Only You — where the first film had Lum chasing Ataru, this one has Ataru chasing Lum.
- The tanuki character Oshima in the film, who looks the same as the Oshima of the manga and TV anime but is a completely different character, was named after Takahashi Rumiko's editor, Mr. Oshima.
