Plot summary
Sun is ten years old and stands apart from the other children at her elementary school, who leave her out. When summer vacation comes, a girl named Jia moves into the neighborhood, and the two of them begin spending their days together. Sun walks Jia around the area, they visit each other's houses, and they tell each other things they keep from other people, so that by the end of the break they are best friends. The new semester brings Jia into contact with the classmates around Sun, and she notices how they treat her. Jia would like a place among the children the others look up to, and she starts keeping her distance from Sun as she tries to join them.
