Plot summary

The Sun is expanding, and in a hundred years it will engulf Earth. The United Earth Government builds ten thousand Earth Engines to carry the planet out of the solar system, and a companion project pushes the Moon away. The Digital Life Project, which would upload human minds, is shut down. In 2044 attackers strike the space elevator at Libreville, destroying the UEG base and the Ark Space Station, and several countries abandon the engine project. On the Moon, engineer Tu Hengyu loses the quantum computer meant for the lunar engine test to a solar storm and offers his own, which holds two minutes of his dead daughter Yaya's consciousness. Trainee astronaut Liu Peiqiang, whose wife Han Duoduo is sick from solar radiation, applies for station work to secure places for her and their son in the underground cities.
