Plot summary
Egon Olsen has grown forgetful, and a zone number he cannot recall keeps a strongbox shut. Once out of Vridslose State Prison, he looks for Kjeld and Benny and finds that both have become associates of Georg, the American cousin of Yvonne, while he was inside. Georg is a young computer criminal who treats the people around him as inferior, and he has no patience for an old-fashioned strongbox thief whose memory is failing. Such patronizing does not sit well with Egon, who sabotages Georg's computer and spoils the coup the other man was preparing. His own ambitions now reach higher than before.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Olsen Gang Outta Sight (1977)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- For political reasons the East German DEFA dub changed the Danish original: the butter that was to be sold to Russia, where there was a shortage, was instead sold to "the underdeveloped countries", and Kjeld's complaint that his nephew had "only alcohol and Marxism" in his head became "only alcohol and women".
- Ole Ernst, the regular actor for the detective Holm in the Olsen Gang films, could not appear in this one because of other commitments and was replaced in the part by Dick Kaysø.
- The character Børge was written entirely out of the screenplay because the actor Jes Holtsø had fallen out with Nordisk Film and was keeping away from the public.
- The ship that brings the disguised Hallandsen to Copenhagen is the former Flensburg vessel Jürgensby, which then served the Malmö–Copenhagen line; in 2017 it burned out in Flensburg harbour and was sold to Danzig in Poland, where it is to serve as Admiral Unrug.
