Plot summary

The King's Highway is the road that once connected the American colonies, and the documentary follows its route through Northeast Philadelphia, presenting the region's history and its surviving landmarks. Buildings and structures along the highway anchor the account, together with the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route. Historians on camera cover the three creeks and rivers that shaped the city. Old documents, photographs and artifacts appear beside archival records. Aerial footage, time-lapse shots and walks through the sites reveal places that have gone largely unnoticed, and the people working to preserve them are profiled.
