Plot summary
Şakir, a municipal inspector in an İstanbul neighborhood, finds fault with Apti, a street cleaner, over small matters and sends him on errands for Şakir's mother. Apti loves Hacer, who cleans houses. His courting of her gets nowhere, since Hacer is involved with Şakir. Şakir wants to marry Hacer as well, and his mother will not hear of him wedding a cleaner. When Şakir confronts Hacer, her brothers beat him. Her father, tired of waiting on Şakir, settles on Apti for his daughter instead. Apti calls at the family's house, makes a poor impression on them, and is still allowed to marry her.
