Plot summary
Molly Hartley is seventeen and recovering after her mother, Jane, stabbed her in the chest with a pair of scissors. Her father, Robert, moves her from Boston to Huntington Prep, hoping a new school will help her leave the attack behind. Jane is confined to a mental institution. Molly wants to forget her past. She befriends Alexis White, a religious girl who does not fit in, and Joseph Young, a popular student, flirts with her. Her eighteenth birthday is approaching, and she keeps having nightmares about the attack.
