Plot summary
Pete takes a call from Jemma Demien, who has found a lighter belonging to a professor lost in the Amazon and is convinced the man is alive. Pete brings in Mark and Fred, and the three take a seaplane down the river to meet her. In Fort Angel the guide Juan Garcia will not take them, so they trade work catching monkeys for gasoline from Don Pedro, who ships the animals to zoos. With guides from him they enter the jungle, where a native girl, Kuwala, offers to lead them to the Imas tribe if they help free her sister from the gold prospectors. Those men are killing natives as they hunt the same treasure, and the friends decide they must stop them before they reach the Imas.
