Plot summary
Larry Dittmeyer, a real estate developer, has persuaded every family in his neighborhood to sell their homes for a shopping mall, except the Bradys. Mike and Carol's household still runs on 1970s rules: Greg dreams of singing, Jan resents her popular sister Marcia, Peter's voice is changing, Bobby has become a hall monitor, and Cindy tells on everyone. Cindy brings Mike and Carol a tax notice saying $20,000 in back taxes are owed within a week, or the house will be auctioned. Two clients reject Mike's own design, and he warns Carol they may have to move. Cindy overhears and passes it on to her brothers and sisters, who start looking for ways to raise the money without telling their parents.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- In June 1993, Rick Copp and Laurice Elehwany were hired to rewrite the first draft, whose premise was described as The Desperate Hours meets The Brady Bunch: escaped prisoners invade the Brady home and hold the family hostage while hiding from authorities.
- Producers wanted to film the original Brady Bunch house used for the series' exterior shots, but its appearance had been seriously altered since 1969, so they erected a façade around a house in nearby Encino and filmed in its front yard.
