Plot summary
At twenty-three, Laura feels alone in the world's largest city. She also knows the exact day her life will end: April 30. With no plan for the time in between, she joins a club of optimists whose cheer strikes her as ridiculous and, at the same time, enjoyable. There she draws up a list of ten things she wants to accomplish before she dies, mixing ambitions that matter to her with others that are purely for fun. Topping the list is saving a life: she rescues a suicidal young actor and then helps him work through his crisis. Together they begin working through the rest of the list, which has to be finished before April ends.
