Plot summary
Goni leaves university with empty pockets and a weakness for cards. One night he is certain his luck is running and stakes everything he has on a hand of hwatu, including money that belonged to his family. The men across from him, Park Mu-seok and Kwak Cheol-yong, are professionals who cheat, and Goni loses it all. To earn it back, he trains under Mr. Pyeong, a gambler ranked among the country's top three, learning trickery from him and traveling to gambling places around the country. His name grows in that world. Madam Jeong, who arranges illegal gambling and fraud schemes, takes an interest in the young man.

- The manhwa behind the film was created from the story of real-life gambler Tazza Jang (ByeongYoon); director Choi sought Jang's advice on the film, and lead actor Cho Seung-woo learned hwatu card skills from him.
- After winning permission to adapt the manhwa, director Choi read it three times in a row in one sitting and then never revisited it for six months; writing a draft of the scenario took him a year.
