Plot summary
A partly real, mostly invented account of the run-up to the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, made with the festival's cooperation. The Iowa Bacon Board puts on the world's largest bacon festival, and the founders and attendees of the festival are followed as the event approaches. Bacon enthusiasts and a bacon queen are among those who come to Iowa, along with local news reporters and children at a festival meant for adults. Members of PETA turn up as well, and an envoy of Icelandic Vikings arrives wanting to win a contest for the world's greatest bacon. Their paths cross with the organizers as the festival nears.
