Plot summary
Jennifer Swift owns a restaurant in Salt Lake City, which she opened with her husband before he died, and she is bringing up her teenage son Simon there. Her sister Meg never left Hazelwood, the town where they grew up, and works alongside their parents at the family bakery. This is the first Christmas for the Swifts since Uncle Dave, who ran the town's much-loved theater, The Madison, passed away. Jennifer and Simon travel home for the holiday and long for one more Christmas at The Madison, which is for sale and needs repairs. In Salt Lake City, Meg pitches in with the restaurant crew as they prepare for a holiday contest between local eateries, the prize being money for a charity. The sisters trade places.
