Plot summary

Sheriff Hussein is a dedicated officer of the Integrity Department, the police branch that investigates serving officers suspected of corruption. A vigilante known as the Meth Killer has been murdering associates of Tony Ifrit, a ruthless and dangerous kingpin who distributes methamphetamine. One of the killer's victims was a corrupt officer who headed the Narcotics Department. Sheriff is assigned to track the killer down, and Nazri, a young and idealistic Narcotics Department officer, is paired with him on the case. Nazri's older sister Syazlin also serves in that department. Their mission is to break the drug syndicate that Tony runs.

Sheriff's failure in Indonesian cinemas sparked an online debate in Malaysia, where Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid called the result "unfair" and promised to bring a motion to the Malaysian Parliament to limit the influx of Indonesian and foreign media.
Azhan Rani was originally intended to be cast as drug kingpin Tony Ifrit in Sheriff, but was replaced by Aaron Aziz after Aziz was dropped from The Original Gangster (2024) amid friction between him and director Syamsul Yusof.
Some viewers were furious that Sheriff's trailer seemed to show "a whole" plot of the film; director Syafiq Yusof denied it and said he had chosen to reveal the Meth Killer to use a reversed "whodunnit" or "howcatchem" concept.
Sheriff became the first Skop Productions film to be screened in Hong Kong, distributed there by Universal Pictures Hong Kong with its original dialogue, and was Astro Shaw's second 2024 international release after Mechamato Movie in Japan.
