Vladimir Simonov

Vladimir Simonov was a Russian actor of stage and film who spent his career at the Vakhtangov Theatre in Moscow. Born in Russia in 1957, he trained in Alla Kazanskaya's class at the Shchukin Theatrical School of the Vakhtangov Theatre from 1976 to 1980 and joined the company's troupe that same year. His stage roles included Othello in Shakespeare's Othello in 2000 and Pantalone in the Vakhtangov production of Carlo Gozzi's comedy Princess Turandot, and he also appeared in productions directed by Oleg Efremov at the Moscow Art Theatre during the 1980s and 1990s. In 1998 he created the role of Soziy in Molière's Amfitrion, and from 2004 he played Colonel Alfred Zhibuse in Mademoiselle Nitush. He was named a People's Actor of Russia in 2004 and won awards for his stage and film work. He died in 2025.
