Tony Leblanc
Biography
Tony Leblanc was an actor who first studied singing and dancing, and later took on a range of jobs that included boxing, in which he became the amateur lightweight champion of Castilla, Spain. He then moved into the theater and performed with the companies of Nati Mistral and Celia Gámez. His screen debut came with small and secondary roles, beginning with Los últimos de Filipinas (1945). Many of those parts were of the chulo madrileño, a classic Madrid type marked by his accent and behavior, and such roles brought him great success in the 1950s. After becoming a known actor, he also worked as a director and producer, setting up his own production company and making three films, though the venture had no success. He ultimately chose to continue as an actor. In 1993, the Goya Awards honored him for his entire career.
