Simon Broad

Biography

Simon Broad is a New Zealand voice actor who got his start in dubbing while employed by Godfrey Ho. Born in Pahiatua, he was voicing as many as 170 films a year during the 1980s, and by 1999 he reckoned he had dubbed more than 700. His credits from that period took in every Chow Yun-fat film made up to then, most of Jet Li's work, a few Jackie Chan movies, and the reissued Bruce Lee film Way of the Dragon. The South China Morning Post called him Hong Kong's leading voice-over man and the doyen of dubbers. When movie dubbing work declined, he and Jack Murphy used their company Two Guys to move into animation, especially Japanese cartoons, and voices for talking toys. In 2008 he became a roleplayer and facilitator with Dramatic Difference, a consultancy run by Sally Dellow. He was also ADR supervisor on DragonBlade: The Legend of Lang (2005).
