Robert Harron

Biography

Robert Harron was an American silent film actor. Born in New York City, he started at American Biograph Studios at age fourteen, running errands and appearing as an extra. Director D.W. Griffith noticed him within a year and gave him increasingly bigger roles, beginning with the 1908 comedy A Calamitous Elopement. Harron became known for playing sensitive, naive young men, and he appeared in over 200 films. He was best remembered for his parts in Griffith's The Birth of a Nation (1915) and Intolerance (1916), and he also starred in Judith of Bethulia (1914) and True Heart Susie (1919). By 1920, he had grown too old for juvenile roles, and Griffith arranged for him to make four films for Metro Pictures. The first, the comedy Coincidence, was also his last, released in 1921 after his death in 1920.
