Biography

Rob Cohen is an American filmmaker who has directed and produced for film and television. He began as a reader for agent Mike Medavoy, championing a script that became the Academy Award winning film The Sting (1973). Cohen then worked at 20th Century Fox Television as head of current programming and later ran Motown's motion picture division, where he developed Mahogany and The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings. He produced and developed projects including The Wiz, The Witches of Eastwick and Light of Day before turning to directing in the 1990s. Among his directing credits are Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, Dragonheart, Daylight and the Golden Globe winning The Rat Pack. He became known as an action director with The Fast and the Furious (2001) and xXx, and later directed Stealth, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and The Boy Next Door. He has also directed over 150 television commercials.
