Richard Paul

Richard Paul was an American actor in television and film. Born in Los Angeles, he studied public affairs and psychology and was close to finishing a doctorate in clinical psychology when he gave up therapy to perform full time. From 1977 to 1979 he played Mayor Teddy Burnside on the sitcom Carter Country. One in a Million, the ABC comedy he costarred in, ran for one season in 1980. He also appeared regularly as a Match Game panelist from 1978 to 1982, and he later had recurring parts on Murder, She Wrote as Cabot Cove mayor Sam Booth and on Full House as Mr. Strowbridge, a station manager. A WKRP in Cincinnati episode cast him as a preacher modeled on Jerry Falwell, a figure he played again in Fall From Grace, a 1990 television movie, and in The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996). His films included Eating Raoul (1982), which Paul Bartel wrote and directed.
