Malick Bowens
Biography
Malick Bowens was an actor whose career took shape after Peter Brook invited him to join the International Center on Theatrical Research. Through that company he performed on stages around the world and trained in the Shakespearean tradition, improvisation, concentration, voice, physical training, and classical languages including Greek and Latin. He moved into cinema and television while continuing stage work. His film roles included the steward Farah Aden in Out of Africa (1985), a movie that won twelve Oscars, along with parts in The Believers (1987), Outbreak (1995), When We Were Kings (1996), an Oscar-winning documentary, and Tears of the Sun (2003). He also appeared in Bopha, Ali, and Menage a Trois, and on television in the series Tarzan and the film The March. Malick Bowens died in 2017.
