Kanako Urai

Biography

Kanako Urai, whose ring name is Asuka, is a Japanese professional wrestler. She started in AtoZ in 2004, returned in 2007, and freelanced for JWP Joshi Puroresu, Pro Wrestling Wave, Smash, and Wrestling New Classic, winning the JWP Openweight, Smash Diva, and Wave Tag Team Championships. In 2015 she signed with WWE, becoming the first Japanese woman signed by the company in over 20 years, and later won the NXT Women's Championship in 2016; her 510-day reign remains the longest in that title's history. After moving to the main roster in 2017, she won the inaugural Women's Royal Rumble in 2018 and held the SmackDown Women's Championship, three Raw Women's Championships, and five WWE Women's Tag Team Championships. She won the 2020 Women's Money in the Bank match and, after an Elimination Chamber victory in 2023, became the first WWE woman to have won the Money in the Bank match, the Royal Rumble, and an Elimination Chamber contest.
