Julie Payne

Julie Payne is an American actress whose four-decade career has leaned on comedy and voice work across television, film and theater. Born in Indianapolis and raised in Oregon, she studied drama at Santa Clara University before joining The Committee, the San Francisco improvisational satire group she remained with on and off until 1974. Her screen debut came in Celebration at Big Sur, a 1971 concert film. Bit parts in The Strawberry Statement and The Candidate and television guest spots followed, then in 1976 she and Ruth Silveira wrote and starred in the two-woman revue People Pie. She was a regular in three short-lived network series between 1983 and 1986, among them Wizards and Warriors, and she also appeared in WKRP in Cincinnati. Turning to voice acting, she contributed to the animated portions of The Tracey Ullman Show and voiced Dr. Liz Wilson and Lanolin in Garfield specials and series. She later played Larry David's mother-in-law on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
