John Friedrich

John Friedrich is an American former actor, born in Los Angeles in 1958, who worked as a character actor in the 1970s and early 1980s. He is best known for playing Joey Capra in The Wanderers (1979), adapted by Philip Kaufman from Richard Price's novel. On television he guest starred on Baretta and The Streets of San Francisco, and he had a supporting part in The Boy in the Plastic Bubble (1976). His films also included Almost Summer, a school comedy, and Thank God It's Friday (1978). In 1982 he appeared with James Woods in the prison drama Fast-Walking, playing a convict named Squeeze. He was Frank Cleary in the 1983 miniseries The Thorn Birds, and his final film release was The Final Terror. Friedrich ended his film career after The Thorn Birds, though in 2007 he discussed his films at the University of Hawaii and expressed interest in acting again.
