Joe Lara

Joe Lara was an American actor and martial artist who also worked as a musician, known for the role of Tarzan. Born in San Diego and raised in Newport Beach, California, he began a modeling career in 1981 and traveled to European countries including Italy, France, and Switzerland. He first played Tarzan in the 1989 television movie Tarzan in Manhattan, then reprised the role in the series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures, which ran from 1996 to 1997. His action film credits included American Cyborg: Steel Warrior (1993) and Steel Frontier (1995). He also starred as Victor in the 1999 film Lima: Breaking the Silence and played Detective Miller in the 2000 film Very Mean Men. He stopped acting after twenty years in 2002 to pursue country music, becoming active in music in 2009. In 2011 he released his debut country album Joe Lara: The Cry of Freedom.
