Jing Wong

Wong Jing is a Hong Kong filmmaker who wrote, directed and produced a huge number of comedies, action pictures, romances and gambling movies. Raised in the industry as the son of the film and television director Wong Tin-Lam, he studied Chinese literature at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, though he learned more by spending time at studios, writing scripts for his father's programs and working as a director's assistant. He entered films with the script Cunning Tendency and made his directing debut with Challenge of the Gamesters, both for Shaw Brothers. Casino Raiders started a gambling craze that he exploited in the God of Gamblers series, and God of Gamblers Returns, starring Chow Yun-Fat, was his biggest Hong Kong hit. He also directed The Romancing Star (1987) and turned Stephen Chow into a star with All for the Winner.
