Hugh Armstrong
Biography
Hugh Armstrong was a British actor who worked across stage, television and film. Born in Retford and educated at Bedford Modern School, he had a brief spell in the army before training at the Rose Bruford drama school. His first major screen role came as Ted the chauffeur in Prudence and the Pill, and he became best known for playing the monster in the cult horror film Death Line (1972), a performance noted for making a violent cannibal seem pitiful and sympathetic. He later appeared as Harry Wax in How to Get Ahead in Advertising (1989) and as Jun Priest in The Beastmaster. Armstrong also belonged to the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, and in 1975 at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre his role in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest was R.P. McMurphy. His final role was in the television movie Stuart: A Life Backwards (2007). He died in 2016.

Early training
Armstrong served briefly in the army before choosing acting as a career, and he began his training at the Rose Bruford drama school.
