Don Barclay

Don Barclay was an American actor who worked as an artist and caricaturist. The Ziegfeld Follies was where he began his career. Over the years he took hundreds of roles, both onscreen and as a voice performer for Walt Disney, who regarded him as a good luck charm. His film credits included appearances with the Keystone Cops in 1915 and a part in Mary Poppins in 1964. Away from acting, Barclay produced caricatures and paintings of famous people, often while he was working on movie sets. He became a successful caricature painter of celebrities and eventually left acting to work as a full-time artist. He made hundreds of caricatures of celebrities for saloons around the nation and for servicemen in barracks, and his paintings and caricatures are archived in the Library of Congress. During World War II he performed a one-man USO show for troops, touring bases in North Africa, Arabia, India, and China and drawing caricatures of the servicemen.
