Diane Warren
Biography
Diane Warren is an American songwriter who first drew attention with DeBarge's 1985 single Rhythm of the Night. Her earliest hit came in 1983, when Laura Branigan recorded Solitaire. She joined EMI in the late 1980s and became the first songwriter in Billboard's history to have seven hits by different artists on the charts at once. Among her best-known songs are Because You Loved Me (1996), How Do I Live (1997) and I Don't Want to Miss a Thing (1998). She has won an Academy Honorary Award, a Grammy, an Emmy and two Golden Globes, and her 17 Oscar nominations are the most of anyone without a win. She founded the publishing company Realsongs, released a debut album in 2021, and is the subject of the documentary Diane Warren: Relentless (2024).

A first
After signing with EMI in the late 1980s, Warren made Billboard history as the first songwriter to have seven hit songs on the charts simultaneously, each performed by a different artist. Peter Reichardt, EMI's UK chairman, called her "the most important songwriter in the world".
Behind the award
Warren has earned 17 Academy Award nominations, more than any other person who has never won. In November 2022, she was given an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards.
First role
In 1983, Warren got her first hit with "Solitaire", a song Laura Branigan took to No. 7 on the US pop charts.
Beyond film
For the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Warren co-wrote the United Kingdom's entry, "It's My Time." Jade Ewen performed it, and the song came in fifth, the UK's best showing since 2002.
