Denis Forest
Biography
A Canadian character actor, Denis Forest built a career playing henchmen in blockbusters. Born in Ottawa, he graduated from the Ryerson Theatre School and helped found the Autumn Angel Repertory theater company with Richard Rose and Thom Sokoloski. In 1986 he and Bruce Verine introduced Projekt Putz, a satire of experimental performance art, at Toronto Free Theatre. He received a Dora Mavor Moore Award nomination in 1984 for Best Original Play, General Theatre, for the collective play Mein. Early television work included Race for the Bomb and Champagne Charlie, and after The Long Road Home in 1989 he relocated to Los Angeles to seek more American film and television roles. He became best known for henchmen parts in the Academy Award-nominated movies Cliffhanger (1993) and The Mask (1994), and he played the leading villain in season two of the War of the Worlds TV series. He died in 2002.
