David Hartman

David Hartman is an American media host and journalist who began as an actor. A native of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he appeared on Broadway in the original production of Hello, Dolly! in 1964 and in The Yearling in 1965. In film, he had roles in The Ballad of Josie (1967) and Did You Hear the One About the Traveling Saleslady? (1968), and he later moved to television, working on The Virginian in 1969. He played Dr. Paul Hunter on The Bold Ones: The New Doctors, a part that drew a Golden Globe nomination, and starred as a teacher in Lucas Tanner. He also acted in a 1973 television remake of Miracle on 34th Street. From 1975 to 1987 he was the first male co-host of ABC's Good Morning America, conducting more than 12,000 interviews, and afterward he hosted documentary series for the Discovery Channel and PBS. In 2017 he received the National Association of Broadcasters Distinguished Service Award.
