Damian Hill

Biography

Damian Hill was an Australian actor and screenwriter who trained at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, where he also earned a master's degree in screenwriting. He acted on stage, including in Ray Mooney's prison drama Everynight, Everynight, which led to a collaboration with Scottish actor Paul Ireland, and he founded the Frank Theatre Company. His first attempt at writing for the screen was Pawno (2015), in which he also played the lead; critics David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz praised it highly, and it became the film he was best known for. He took the lead role of Jimmy in West of Sunshine (2018), and his last feature appearances came in the Australian-French drama Slam (2018) and the crime thriller Locusts (2019), with Jessica McNamee and Ben Geurens.
