Cosima Shaw

Cosima Shaw is an actress who grew up in Berlin, Germany. She studied musical theater briefly in Berlin, then took an academic route and completed the German Abitur. Although she appeared early in school plays, commercials and television, she did not make acting her profession until later, working first as a model in London, then Paris and New York. Her breakthrough came when she was cast as a German receptionist in the BBC1 comedy Trevor's World of Sport (2003), which Andy Hamilton wrote and directed. That led to feature film roles, including V for Vendetta (2005), and to further British and German television work. In 2009 she had the role of a scientist aboard a Mars mission that was doomed, in one of the last Dr. Who specials alongside David Tennant. Her performance as Ana in the independent film Ana Begins (2009) brought her Best Actress awards at both the London Independent Film Festival and the British Independent Film Festival.
