Anna Bederke
Biography
Anna Bederke is a German actor and filmmaker. Born in Hamburg in 1981, she was drawn to storytelling, painting and music as a child, played violin, studied piano and guitar, and spent several years in a school theater group. She directed her first film at 16 and went on to study at the School of Fine Arts (HfBK) in Hamburg, where she made short films in classes taught by Wim Wenders and Fatih Akin and sharpened her writing. She earned her directing diploma in 2007, supporting her studies by modeling, bartending and selling her paintings. Fatih Akin had written a part for her in Soul Kitchen (2009) and asked her to audition; she won the role of Lucia, the hard-drinking waitress, over established actresses. Variety called her debut a real discovery.
