Plot summary
In 1971 the Mekas brothers travel back to Lithuania after 27 years away. Their destination is Semeniškiai, the village of their birth in the Panevėžys region. Their return is the subject of a diary film, the second of its kind, assembled from footage and voiceover recorded around the visit. It sets memory of the place against what the camera finds there, and the result is a portrait of a homecoming and a reckoning with years spent apart from a country. The work also sits in the Essential Cinema Repertory collection at Anthology Film Archives, and in 2006 the Library of Congress chose it for preservation in the National Film Registry.
