Plot summary
The Yeagers, a family in Phoenix, agree to be filmed for a full year by a documentary crew. The filmmaker behind the project lives in a neighboring house and fits cameras to the walls of their home, while his operators wear large helmet-like rigs and trail the family. Shooting begins when the Yeagers come back from a vacation, and the cameras meeting them at the airport make them nervous. Warren Yeager, the father, is the one who let the crew in. Doctors Howard Hill and Ted Cleary are there to watch over the project's integrity, and Cleary objects to the filmmaker's methods, worried that the family's grip on reality is under threat. The filmmaker will not stay out of the way, steering their daily decisions because he believes the program needs it.
