Plot summary
Pietro Paladini manages a business group and lives with his wife and their daughter Claudia. While he is at the beach, helping his brother Carlo pull two women out of the water, his wife dies at home. After the funeral he stays outwardly calm. He drives Claudia to school and then remains in the park across the street for the whole day, and he does the same on the days that follow. He eats at a nearby café, meets the people who pass through the park, and keeps track from a distance of the merger that is reshaping his company. His brother Carlo expects him to come back to himself, while his wife's sister Marta and his colleagues are caught up in the changes at the group.
