Plot summary
Katie brings her pregnant sister Kristi a carton of tapes. The tapes date from 1988, when Katie and Kristi were children in California, in a household with their mother Julie and Dennis, her boyfriend. Dennis notices that odd events have followed the arrival of Kristi's imaginary friend Tobi. An earthquake interrupts him and Julie while they film, and dust in the footage shows an invisible figure. His friend Randy Rosen urges him to set up cameras all over the house. Julie and Dennis hire a babysitter, Lisa, who wants to leave after frightening incidents.
