Plot summary
A hit-and-run driver strikes Dana Milgrom as she crosses the street, and paramedics revive her after she briefly dies. She wakes in the hospital with a battered body, her legs paralyzed and a tracheal tube connecting her to a ventilator. Unable to speak, she depends on a speech synthesis program, which her husband Steve helps her learn as he promises to try to bring her home. That night Dana thinks someone has come into her room. In the morning Trevor Helms, the nurse assistant, looks the room over but reports that no patient from that wing could have wandered in. Because Dana keeps insisting a man is harassing her, she sees the psychiatrist Dr. Ron Stengel. When her ventilator fails, hospital director Elizabeth Leaming approves cameras in her room.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film's premise came from a news story director and co-writer Dennis Bartok read: a man left paralyzed in a hit-and-run had cameras installed in his hospital room, and they caught evidence of someone tampering with his ventilator.
- Dennis Bartok, who directed and co-wrote the film, did a gender swap and made the protagonist a track coach as a tribute to a friend who was murdered shortly after the first draft was written.
