Plot summary
Jeona and Kishna Maurh are brothers in pre-partition Punjab in the 1800s, in a land ruled by the British, where the zamindars oppress the people who live under them. The humiliation of their family is more than Kishna can bear, and he goes to join the bandits. The British put him to death, and his brother Jeona takes up arms in his place to avenge him and to fight for his people. His fight begins with the land tax mafia, the men who work in league with the native kings, and it reaches the colonial government standing behind them both.
