Plot summary
Takayama, the governor of Tokyo, is assassinated, and the FBI, believing the yakuza are behind it, hands the case to the CIA's Tokyo office. Travis Hunter, an ex-CIA agent raised in Japan who understands yakuza ways, works it with Sean Mack, a rookie FBI agent assigned alongside him. Mack knows little about CIA procedures or Japanese customs. The pair learn of a plan by Kuroda, who leads a new yakuza outfit, to run a drug-dealing network with Chen, a Chinese Triad leader, and Kuroda removes anyone who stands in his path. Hunter asks for help from Kojima, second in command of an old-school outfit led by the elderly Oyabun Ishikawa, who says he also wants Kuroda gone.

- Into the Sun began with a script by Trevor Miller that had to be reworked because it was too similar to The Yakuza, a film that would have cost too much to license for a remake.
