Plot summary
A Southern town's juke joint and criminal trade belong to Big Jim Bottoms. A new minister, Reverend Jasper Jones, preaches there and pulls Jim's customers to church. To stop him, Jim sets what he calls a preacher trap. He sends Minnie, Mabel and Mae, three notorious women, to Jones's office with orders to walk the reverend home after services; his henchmen slip into Jones's house and hide. The women act interested in religion to win his trust. Aunt Caroline, who raised Jim after his parents died in a tornado, hears of the plan from a young boy and moves to block it.
