Apple, a student at Greene University, makes money by editing other students' papers. Her plan for the future is to marry Todd, her rugby-playing boyfriend, but a Title IX rule disbands the rugby team and Todd moves to another school. Apple wants a way to keep him near, so she decides to start a women's gymnastics team. Her roommate Cali, intense and kind, helps her recruit six athletic girls at Greene. Apple also gets to know Chet, a rugby player who is the teaching assistant in her economics class.
