Plot summary

ACP Krishnamurthy works with Interpol to catch Billa, a crime boss operating out of Kuala Lumpur who answers to an unseen figure called Devil. Krishnamurthy has spent years on the search, leaving his life in India behind. A police chase leaves Billa dead, and Krishnamurthy, the only witness, keeps the death from his fellow officers; Interpol officer Dharmendra is assigned to work alongside him. In Visakhapatnam, Krishnamurthy finds Ranga, a petty thief who is Billa's double and has adopted two children, Lakshmi and Sreenu. Krishnamurthy trains Ranga and places him back among the gang as a man with no memory, promising the children an education in Hyderabad.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Billa (2009)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • During the making of Kantri (2008), N. T. Rama Rao Jr. wanted to remake Billa (2007) in Telugu following his grandfather N. T. Rama Rao's Yugandhar (1979), but director Meher Ramesh felt he would not fit the part at that stage of his career. Ramesh also considered Ravi Teja before budget constraints ended that idea, and then cast Prabhas, who was excited by the project.
  • Composer Mani Sharma later recycled two of Billa's songs for the 2010 Tamil film Sura: "My Name is Billa" became "Naan Nadanthaal Adhiradi", and "Bommali" became "Thanjavoor Jillakkaari".
