Plot summary
Rama Jois, an Ayurveda expert, and his wife Susheela have only son Karna, who disappears during a temple festival outing with his aunt Yashoda. Guilt over the loss has weighed on Yashoda, and when she at last tells her daughter Siri about what caused the break between her and her brother, Siri decides to repair the brother-sister bond by bringing Karna home. Her idea is to find a stand-in who can convince Rama Jois and Susheela that their son has returned. The man she settles on is Anila, a cinema junior artist rejected for film work over his acting skills, and she strikes a deal with him to pass as Karna.

- Director Suni said the film's base was the Hindu myth of King Trishanku, who wanted to remain immortal and was given a loka by sage Vishwamitra but backed out after learning he would have to hang upside down there.
- Arjun Janya scored the film, his first collaboration with Suni, who said each character has a different music theme and that they experimented with genres "from jazz to death metal."
- To research the black magic the film deals with in Karnataka, director Suni travelled to Kerala, Kollegal and Rajasthan, where he said they practised it and "got to experience the vibrations and more."
