Plot summary
The widower Alan White lives in an old apartment building with his young son Benny and Caitlin, his teenage daughter, who blames him for the car crash that killed her mother Cynthia. Strange events had already driven the family from their previous home, and after about a week in the apartment the disturbances start up again. Alan, an unemployed agronomist engineer, calls in Dr. Helzer, whose parapsychology team includes Paul Ortega and the technician Ellen Keegan. They set up infrared cameras, digital photography, psychophonic recording gear, movement detectors and magnetic field meters. The equipment captures telephones ringing with no caller, shifting shadows, objects in flight and bulbs bursting.
