Plot summary

The tour's name riffs on The Original Kings of Comedy, but the comedians perform in indie rock venues instead of comedy clubs. Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis, Brian Posehn and Maria Bamford are the four on the tour, and they borrowed the idea from Neil Hamburger, who had been playing such clubs since 2000. Cameras follow them on stage and between shows, so the footage moves back and forth between performances and life on the road. The film was shot in the fall of 2004 and financed by a DVD rental service that also distributed it. A six-episode television series came out of a six-city tour.
