Plot summary
Marie is a ballerina in her late twenties, emotionally distant and devoted to her work. During a troubled dress rehearsal for Swan Lake, she receives a diary in the mail, the diary of Henrik, her first love. With the rehearsal postponed until evening, Marie takes a ferry to the island near Stockholm to remember a summer from thirteen years ago. There she recalls meeting Henrik, a college student, on the boat while traveling to stay with her Aunt Elisabeth and Uncle Erland. The two fall in love and spend a carefree summer together. She has the day on the island before the evening rehearsal calls her back.
