Plot summary
André Stander is a captain in the South African Police, newly married and the youngest officer to hold that rank. In 1976 he and his partner are among the officers assigned to protest duty after the Soweto uprising. In the confusion of a demonstration in Thembisa he shoots a young protester who is unarmed, and the killing leaves him shaken and turns him against the apartheid system. One lunch break he walks into a bank and robs it. The rush keeps him at it for years, robbing banks and once answering a robbery call in his police capacity. His partner, Cor Van Deventer, leads the squad hunting the robber.
